Cindy de La Hozin toinen kirja on pitkälti samalla ajatuksella koottu kuin Jenna Glatzerin Marilyn Monroe Treasures. Se sisältää tekstin ja lukuisten upeiden kuvien lisäksi 20 jäljitelmää erilaisista dokumenteista, kirjeistä jne. Nämä ovat omissa pusseissaan niin, etteivät ne pääse karkaamaan kirjaa selaillessa.
Personal Archivesin jäljennökset eivät ole samoja kuin Marilyn Monroe Treasuresissa olevat. Tämän vuoksi kummankin kirjan voi hankkia hyllyynsä hyvin mielin. Mikäli mietityttää, niin tässäpä täydellinen lista kirjan sisältämistä aidonnäköisistä jäljennöksistä:

Jostain syystä kirja jäi ilmestyessään hieman varjoon. Cindy de la Hozin aiempi teos, Platinum Fox, sisälsi paljon uutta tietoa ja uusia kuvia, joten ehkä siitä syystä tältä kirjalta odotettiin jotain huikean uutta ja mullistavaa. Mikäli Personal Archives olisi ollut ensimmäinen kirja, joka sisältää aidonnäköisiä jäljennöksiä, odotukset olisivat ehkä täyttyneet. Nyt kuitenkin Jenna Glatzer ehti ensin. Personal Archives ei ole missään nimessä huono kirja, vaan täynnä upeita kuvia, hyvää tekstiä sekä niitä ihastuttavia, hypisteltäviä jäljennöksiä. Ehkä tämäkin kirja ansaitsisi enemmän huomiota ja kehuja, sillä ei ole sen vika, että se jäi sekä Platinum Foxin että Marilyn Monroe Treasuresin varjoon. Kirjaa on ollut myös Suomen kirjakaupoissa (joskus erilaisella kansikuvalla), joten jos se sattuu putkahtamaan esiin, suosittelen lämpimästi tarttumaan kiinni.
The second book by Cindy de La Hoz has the same basic idea as Jenna Glatzer's Marilyn Monroe Treasures. It has 20 removable facsimile documents along with text and lots of photos. The documents are stored in their own envelopes so you can browse the book without worrying that the reproductions will fly around.
The reproductions are different from those in Marilyn Monroe Treasures, so if you have that book and like the idea, don't worry: there are no repeats. Here's a complete list of the reproductions in this book:
1) a letter written by Grace Goddard requesting that orphanage not allow the child's mother not to visit (the book says "child's mother" even if it's really Ida Bolender that GG is talking about)
2) checks issued by Milton Greene on behalf of MM Productions for the care of Marilyn's mother at Rockhaven
3) a model release form signed by NJ
4) a cancelled bank check from December 19, 1950 filled out by MM
5) a telegram MM sent to Milton Greene after they first met in 1949
6) MM's personal script from Niagara
7) a set design from GPB
8) a letter from 20th Century Fox instructing MM to return to the set for the filming of The Girl In Pink Tights
9) a love note written by MM to Joe DiMaggio
10) the divorce certificate between MM & Joe
11) a sketch for a costume of Marilyn's for TNBLSB
12) the bill from Margaret Hohenberg & MM's payment check
13) the license for Hugo
14) the painted card MM was given by the cast of LML to celebrate her 34th birthday
15) journalist Henry Brandon sent a list of questions to MM in January 1960. She wrote her responses on the document in pencil
16) the airline tickets for MM and Paula Strasberg for August 27, 1960
17) a bill for MM's stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel from April 21-24, 1960
18) MM's architectural drawing of her kitchen at 12305 5th Helena Drive
19) an invoice sent to MM by Ralph Greenson
20) the contact sheet for MM's last modeling shoot
For some reason, this book did not receive the praise it should have when it was released. Maybe the expectations were ridiculously high: the first book by Cindy de la Hoz, Platinum Fox, had many previously unseen photos and new information. Also, maybe if this had been the first book to include removable facsimile documents, those expectations would have been exceeded. But Jenna Glatzer was first with her Marilyn Monroe Treasures. Personal Archives is by no means a bad book: it has beautiful, high quality photos, the text is respectful and of course those documents. This book definitely deserves more praise because it is not its fault that it was a bit overshadowed by those two other books. If you happen to see this book, I highly recommend that you buy it.
