Toivelista / Wish List

On taas se aika vuodesta, kun tontut kurkkivat ikkunan takana ja joulun ilo lämmittää mieliä. Kiltit lapset saavat lahjoja, joten siksipä minäkin ajattelin postittaa oman toivelistani - tietenkin koskien Marilyn-kirjoja. Kirjat ovat listalla jopa suunnilleen toivejärjestyksessä. En siis missään nimessä odota Joulupukin tuovan näitä kaikkia (!), mutta ainahan listoja on hauska tehdä. Onko sinulla erityistä Marilyn-toivelistaa?

Greene: But That's Another Story

-sisältää Milton Greenen ottamia kuvia. Kirja ei ole pelkkä Marilyn-teos, vaan Marilyn on yksi Greenen kuvien kohteista. Muita ovat mm. Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant ja Gene Kelly.

Glatzer: Marilyn Monroe Treasures

-tämä upouusi kirja sisältää aidonnäköisiä jäljennöksiä mm. Marilynin kirjeistä, lentolipuista ym. Kirja, jossa on jotain hipelöitävää, kiinnostaa aina.

Carpozi: Marilyn Monroe

-vuonna 1961 ilmestynyt kirja on elämäkerta, kiintoisa mm. sen vuoksi, että se on kirjoitettu Marilynin elinaikana

Rizzoli: Marilyn La Vita e il Mito

-italialainen upea kuvateos, joka on suhteellisen harvinainen. Haluaisin tämän nimenomaan italiankielisenä

All About All About Eve

-kirja kertoo kaiken Kaikki Eevasta-elokuvasta

Seven Year Itch

-tämä pikkukirja julkaistiin samaan aikaan, kun Kesäleski ilmestyi, ja siinä kerrotaan elokuvan tarina, liitteenä kuvia

Bus Stop

-samalla idealla kuin edellinenkin kirja, tämä vain nimensä mukaisesti Bussipysäkistä

Martin: Will Acting Spoil Marilyn Monroe?

-tämäkin kirja on peräisin ajalta jolloin Marilyn eli, ja koostuu haastatteluista

Murray & Shade: Last Months of Marilyn Monroe

-taloudenhoitajan muistelmat Marilynin viimeisiltä elinkuukausilta

Marshall: DD Group

-DD Group oli internetissä toiminut keskusteluryhmä, joka pyrki selvittämään, miten Marilyn kuoli. Keskustelut on koottu kirjaksi, jossa Marilynin kuolemaan liittyviä asioita tarkastellaan monipuolisesti.

Clark: Prince, Showgirl and Me

-muistelmateos Prinssin ja revyytytön kuvausten ajalta. Tämä on kuulemma hyvä, mutta Clarkin toinen kirja on ikävä kyllä soopaa.

Finn: Marilyn's Addresses

'Tis the season to be jolly and have sleighbells and snow and a Christmas tree. Good children will get presents, so I made my own wish list - of Marilyn books. The books are in some order, actually: the ones I wish for the most are on the top of the list. I absolutely don't expect Santa to bring all of these (!), but it's always fun to make lists. Do you have a special Marilyn book wish list?

-a photobook with tons of photos by Milton Greene. Marilyn isn't the only celebrity featured in this book; others include Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant and Gene Kelly.

Glatzer: Marilyn Monroe Treasures

-this book contains genuine-looking replicas of Marilyn's letters, airplane tickets etc. I always like that kind of stuff

Carpozi: Marilyn Monroe

-this biography came out in 1961, and that's one of the reasons why it interests me

Rizzoli: Marilyn La Vita e il Mito

-a huge Italian photobook, which is somewhat rare. I'd love to get the Italian version of this.

All About All About Eve

-as the title promises, this book tells all about the movie All About Eve

Seven Year Itch

-a small book that came out when the movie did. It tells the storyline of the movie and includes photos.

-similar to the SYI book

Martin: Will Acting Spoil Marilyn Monroe?

-compiled of several interviews, this book was first published in the 1950's

Murray & Shade: Last Months of Marilyn Monroe

-Marilyn's housekeeper shares her memories of Marilyn's last months

Marshall: DD Group

-DD Group was an online discussion group dedicated to the death of Marilyn Monroe. The discussions, which provide a lot of information, are now in the form of a book.

Clark: Prince, Showgirl and Me

-memoirs from the making of Prince and Showgirl. This book is supposed to be good, while Clark's other book is pure nonsense.

Finn: Marilyn's Addresses

-I love this kind of books which list addresses and places she knew

Weatherby: Conversations with Marilyn

-compiled from interviews

Wagenknecht: Marilyn Monroe. A Composite View.

-features articles and interviews from and by people who knew Marilyn
